Special Education Track and Field Day

We had wonderful weather and a great time at this year's Special Education Track and Field Day, put on by Beaverton School District's Motor Team.
The shirts we tie dyed at the beginning of the year were perfect for the "neon" theme!

First, the big race:
Getting ready:
Go!
We got medals at the end and met the officers volunteering at the event.

On to a variety of other events

Everyone gave the long jump their best try!

Some of us were very excited to meet the Beaverton High School mascot.

Time for a little lunch at our station:
Thank you to all of our parent helpers:

Having fun while waiting for the bus.

Field Trip to Pump It Up

Today we went on an exciting Field Trip to Pump It Up (off Allen Blvd) with the SRC 3-5.
The kids had so much fun and everyone went down the big slide at least once! It was a day full of friendship and laughter and a very quiet afternoon.

It was really great to just have a "fun" day and see the kids practicing their social skills, manners and language. You can see that they really enjoyed themselves as well!

The teachers had fun too!

Good times were had by all!

Can't wait to do this again next year!

Glass Art

A big Thank You to our PTC and all the families that donated to fundraisers to sponsor this year's Resident Artist.  The final creation will be a large glass mural against the back window of the lobby featuring Oregon landscape features and each one of Terra Linda's darling children personally made by glass fusion.  It should be quite amazing!

Here is our classroom in glass:

Each child got to pick out and place (with assistance as necessary) their glass pieces to create a unique little person that is as special as they are!

We are all very excited to see the end result!

PS - There is a second, super secret, part of this project that will be revealed in May :)

Science Fair Project

Science Fair is next week and to prepare we have been learning about counting, graphing and the concepts of Most and Least.
For our project, we wanted to learn which colors had the most and least in a package of M&Ms.
We poured all the M&Ms into a container and gave the students a peek. Then each student gave their "best guess" about which colors had the most and least.

Next, each student helped sort a handful of the M&Ms by color

Then we counted each color and graphed it on the SmartBoard.
The first and second graders then replicated the process independently with a smaller bag of M&Ms.
Teacher Jen made a trifold of the information and we are ready to present at the Science Fair!

Science is fun and yummy!
