Thanksgiving Feast

It was a great time celebrating our Thanksgiving Feast with everyone!

On Monday, several students worked hard to make a pumpkin pie.

On Tuesday, several students set the table

While others prepared the meal

Rolling Up the Turkey Slices

Preparing the cranberries

Heating Up the Corn

Making LOTS of mashed potatoes

When it was all prepared, parents came for the celebration.
First, we all gave Thanks for the great things in our lives.

And then it was time to share the harvest

And eat together as a school family

What a wonderful way to celebrate!
Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Stone Soup

This week we have been studying nutrition in anticipation of our Thanksgiving Feast.
We've talked about the food groups as well as healthy vs. unhealthy food.

Today, we watched a program about Stone Soup.
Teacher Jen had a stone and all the students added ingredients into her pot.

 Here's Teacher Jen's stone....

The kids chose which veggie to add to her pot.

Even Lauren, our student teacher (visiting today but starting in January) got in on the fun!

When everyone contributes a little, it equals a whole lot!

Broth was added and the soup cooked for hours. At snack, everyone had a
chance to try their very own "stone soup".
Yummy!

Halloween Party

Terra Linda started Halloween Celebrations with a costume parade on Friday.

Then our principal, Mrs. Batsell, read a fun Halloween story to everyone.

Afterwards we started our classroom celebrations with our 4th grade Play Partner friends.
Because we had over 30 new friends, we split the party into two sections so we could invite everyone.

Here are our Monday/Tuesday friends:

We played some games together

And made a spider snack

Then practiced trick or treating!
(pics to come)

In the afternoon, we celebrated with our Thursday/Friday friends:

We carved the pumpkins from our field trip

And had a pumpkin snack then came back into the classroom for a jack-o-lantern display.

Happy Halloween!
